Se convirti\u00f3 en una superestrella en 1959 gracias a la versi\u00f3n de la cara B de Hank Ballard &amp; the Midnighters, \u201cThe Twist\u201d. El tema permaneci\u00f3 en el n\u00ba 1 durante 4 meses y volvi\u00f3 al mismo puesto al a\u00f1o siguiente, rompiendo los r\u00e9cord de ventas. A pesar de haber regresado varias veces en los 70 y los 80, siempre se le recordar\u00e1 por el peculiar encanto de su rock &amp; roll.<\/p>\n<p>\u00abEl Twist\u00bb (el cual hab\u00eda sido un \u00e9xito menor en la voz de Hank Ballard) fue tan popular que su p\u00fablico frecuentemente no le permiti\u00f3 cantar en otro estilo musical.
