Stevie Nicks es una cantante y compositora americana que se hizo famosa\u00a0 mundialmente como integrante de los \u00abFleetwood Mac\u00bb. Stevie entra en el grupo a comienzo de 1974 gracias a su compa\u00f1ero art\u00edstico (y en aquella \u00e9poca tambi\u00e9n de vida) Lindsey Buckingham. Cuando Mick Fleetwood, el baterista del grupo, propone a Lindsey de tomar el lugar del guitarrista Bob Welch, \u00e9l acepta pero con la condici\u00f3n de que tambi\u00e9n su novia (con la que ha grabado con poco \u00e9xito el\u00a0 \u00e1lbum \u00abBuckingham Nicks\u00bb, aqu\u00ed representado con \u00abLong distance winner\u00bb) entre en el grupo.
\nCon este cambio de formaci\u00f3n, la ex blues band fundada por Peter green se convierte definitivamente al soft rock y conquista el gran p\u00fablico vendiendo miliones de copias del \u00e1lbum hom\u00f3nimo grabado en 1975 (llamado por los fans \u00abWhite album\u00bb por el color de la car\u00e1tula) y sobretodo del siguiente \u00abRumors\u00bb, de 1977, \u00e1lbum record en ventas de la era pre-Michael Jackson.
\nPara estos \u00e1lbumes Stevie compone e interpreta algunos temas que se convertir\u00e1n en cl\u00e1sicos del grupo, como \u00abRhiannon\u00bb, la balada \u00abLandslide\u00bb, \u00abDreams\u00bb (hasta hoy el \u00fanico sencillo de los Fleetwood Mac que ha alcanzado la m\u00e1xima posici\u00f3n en la clasificaci\u00f3n estadounidense) y la psiqued\u00e9lica \u00abGold Dust Woman\u00bb.<\/p>\n

En 1981 Stevie estrena su carrera como solista con \u00abBelladonna\u00bb, \u00e1lbum que alcanza la cima de la clasificaci\u00f3n en Am\u00e9rica y le hace poner nada menos que cuatro sencillos en la Hot 100. Entre esos\u00a0 \u00abStop draggin\u2019 my heart around\u00bb, dueto con Tom Petty que \u00e9l mismo escribe y produce.
\nObtiene gran \u00e9xito tambi\u00e9n \u00abEdge of seventeen\u00bb, una de sus canciones m\u00e1s famosas, caracterizada por un inconfundible riff de guitarra que, a\u00f1os despu\u00e9s, tomar\u00edan prestado las Destiny’s Child en su sencillo \u00abBootylicious\u00bb.
\nMuchas canciones compuestas para el \u00e1lbum (producido por Jimmy Iovine, ya colaborador de roqueros como Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen y Patti Smith) no encontraron espacio en la tracklist definitiva de \u00abBelladonna\u00bb y han sido posteriormente usadas en otros proyectos. Tres de estas est\u00e1n incluidas en esta\u00a0 compilaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n

El \u00e9xito de \u00abBelladonna\u00bb es confirmado por el siguiente \u00abThe Wild Heart\u00bb. El \u00e1lbum incluye \u00abStand back\u00bb, un hit escrito a cuatro manos con Prince (pero \u00e9l no aparece en los cr\u00e9ditos), y el tema que da el t\u00edtulo al box set que aqu\u00ed presentamos.
\n\u00abRock a little\u00bb marca la separaci\u00f3n de\u00a0 Jimmy Iovine, y la contrataci\u00f3n de nuevos productores (entre los cuales Rick Nowels, que continuar\u00e1 colaborando con ella en los a\u00f1os a venir), pero los resultados no convencen plenamente al p\u00fablico, aunque el rock bailable de \u00abI can\u2019t wait\u00bb obtendr\u00e1 buen lugar en la clasificaci\u00f3n de sencillos.
\n\u00abThe other side of the mirror\u00bb del 1989 otiene m\u00e1s resonancia a fuera de los Estados Unidos, sobre la estela del gran \u00e9xito internacional del \u00e1lbum grabado con los Mac en 1987, \u00abTango in the night\u00bb.<\/p>\n

A\u00fan no separ\u00e1ndose casi nunca de su formaci\u00f3n originaria, Stevie Nicks ha encontrado el tiempo de realizar numerosas giras como solista y de colaborar, en estudio y en vivo, con un buen n\u00famero de otros artistas. Adem\u00e1s de Tom Petty, podemos nombrar Don Henley (que aqu\u00ed hace duo con ella en \u00abLeather and lace\u00bb), Kenny Loggins (\u00abWhenever I call you friend\u00bb) y\u00a0 Sheryl Crow.
\nEsta \u00faltima ha largamente contribuido, como m\u00fasico y autor, al \u00faltimo \u00e1lbum de in\u00e9ditos de la Nocks, \u00abTrouble in Shangri-la\u00bb de 2001.<\/p>\n

Terminada otra gira con los Fleetwood Mac, que la ha comprometido por gran parte de 2009, Stevie podr\u00eda volver a grabar un nuevo \u00e1lbum con el grupo, siete a\u00f1os despu\u00e9s del bell\u00edsimo \u00abSay you will\u00bb, presentado hacer pocos d\u00edas AQU\u00cd<\/a>.
\nCon la esperanza de poder volverla a escuchar pronto, sola o con los Mac, disfrutemos esta vasta retrospectiva de 1998, llena hasta el tope de rarezas, demos, b-side y versiones alternativas.<\/p>\n
