George Baker<\/strong> es el nombre art\u00edstico del cantante, compositor y m\u00fasico Hans Bouwens<\/strong>, nacido el 8 de diciembre de 1944 en Holanda.<\/p>\n

El grupo se form\u00f3 en 1967, bajo el nombre de Soul Invention<\/strong>, cambiando en 1969 a George Baker Selection<\/strong> al mismo tiempo que reorient\u00f3 su estilo dirigi\u00e9ndolo m\u00e1s cerca del rock. El grupo estaba integrado por Bouwens, Sjaak Greuter, Gerorge The, Jan Hop, Lydia Bont y Martin Schoen.<\/strong> Grabaron su primer single es mismo a\u00f1o: \u201cLittle green bag\u201d <\/em>lleg\u00f3 a la lista de Billboard en los Estados Unidos. El segundo sencillo, \u201cDear Ann\u201d<\/em>, sin tanto \u00e9xito estuvo dos semanas dentro del mismo chart. Esto los llev\u00f3 a grabar el disco debut que hab\u00edamos presentado y aqu\u00ed volvemos a compartir, luego del cual practicamente desaparecieron de la escena musical hasta 1975, cuando con otro single (\u201cPaloma Blanca\u201d<\/em>) les permiti\u00f3 llegar al top 20 en los Estados Unidos y al n\u00famero 1 en Europa. Eso s\u00ed: en su pa\u00eds de origen, Holanda, sus \u00e9xitos sobrevinieron uno tras otro, ganando numerosos discos de oro y platino.<\/p>\n

George Baker<\/strong> edit\u00f3 discos solistas, y la banda sigui\u00f3 con intermitencias hasta comienzos de la d\u00e9cada de 1990, luego de lo cual (y hasta el presente) Baker<\/strong> emprendi\u00f3 su carrera solista.<\/p>\n
